“Reliance Entertainment, who is producing and distributing the film, has started blocking screens in West Bengal, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh belt. The e-mails to block the screens for at-least two weeks have been sent to the single screen owners, and they have readily agreed to allot all shows on all their screens to this Rohit Shetty cop drama. The screen booking in other circuits of India is expected to commence from this week. All said and done, it’s confirmed for a theatrical release on April 2,” revealed a trade source.

“There were some reports that it would release directly on OTT, however, that was never the plan. The team was definitely exploring the hybrid model of release at one point of time, and that’s still in consideration, but the real intent is to bring it in each and every theater, each and every screen of India, and help it bag every single show to ensure a wide release,” the source added.

We also hear, the three terms of release which have been in the forefront right now are – “Higher share to the producer”, “Letting go off the VPF charges to the producers” and “A shorter theatrical to OTT window of just 3 to 4 weeks”.  While the VPF issue is almost resolved all across national, non-national chains and single screens, the other two aspects are being discussed on a day-to-day basis. We have been told that the single screen owners have given a go ahead to the proposal of shorter release window too, as also the hybrid model of release. And as days pass by, we would get live updates from all that’s happening. More emails to cinema owners across the country are expected to be sent off in the coming week. Sooryavanshi features Katrina Kaif as the female lead, and being a cop universe saga, also stars Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh in pivotal extended cameos as Singham and Simmba.

Hopefully the film opens very well and beats HF4 to become his biggest grosser. It was a cake walk had it not been for Covid, so will have to see the public response if people want to go to the theatres or not. Accordingly a bench mark will be set of what a good box office number would be.

SV, PRC, Radhe, Pathan and LSC. Maybe add 83 a well. These are easily the biggest films for this year and they shouldn't disappoint at the BO.
