Master collected a huge 35.50 crore nett plus on day one despite covid19 restrictions in the country. Obviously the figures would have been better had it been a normal release with all markets adding especially Kerala. The opening is the seventh highest ever for a South film after Bahubali - The Conclusion, Saaho, 2.0, Syeraa Narasimha Reddy, Kabali and Bahubali - The Beginning.

The opening is the third highest ever for Tamil cinema after 2.0 and Kabali and if we include all films across India including Hindi then the film would be standing in 12th or 13th position. The results are extraordinary considering the pandemic and it shows the mass crowds are ready to come to the theatres when there is something which holds appeal for them. The Tamil and Telugu markets are leading the way, they may not be optimum but films can be released without the fear of not getting an audience.

The film has seen a very good turnout in Overseas as well with Australia, Singapore and UAE doing oustanding business. The collections of Master (all formats) across India are as follows.

Tamil Nadu - 20,50,00,000 apprx

Nizam / Andhra - 9,00,00,000 apprx

Mysore / Karnataka - 3,75,00,000 apprx

Kerala - 1,75,00,000 apprx

Hindi Circuits - 65,00,000 apprx

TOTAL - 35,65,00,000 apprx

This was expected in tn, but what surprises me is Ap/N collections. Vijay is not a big star in telugu states, but still master did 9cr .shows how hungry telugu people are for movies..
If pawan kalyan, prabhas or any A lister movie releases then no doubt it will do 40cr nett on day1..

Vijay was almost a zero in the telugue states 4-5yrs back.. But now scenario has changed.. It was not just the hunger of telugu audience for any content but reality is that Vijay has slowly and finally captured his long eluded market there.. His movies starting from Mersal started garnering good numbers.. He followed it up with a hit in Sarkar and anither hit with Bigil which did close to 20cr gross in the telugu states and now Master is looking to go beyond 25cr gross despite restrictions and competiton from 3 telugu releases.. Vijay has now a solid market in all 4 southern states and only actor after Rajini to have so..

His box-office records in TN and overseas has given huge hype in ap/n..master was backed by producer dil raju which helped in getting huge number of screens..
But still i feel one good mass film from surya will help him over take vijay in ap/n

Maybe yes. Surya had a good run and fanbase in Ap/Ts but it has most probably dried out.. The thing is if his continous failures were just bcz the movies were bad, it would have been fair but his movies that had good hype like NGK and Thaana Serntha Kootam should have taken atleast good openings.. But those didnt open to the potential or previous movies of Surya himself and moreover Vijays script selection recently has something for everyone and moreover the mass factor which telugu audience crave has been plenty nd off course the audience curiosity seeing Vijays huge market and hype over his TN and WW boxoffice stamina has to some extent made them watch his flcks but he didnt disappoint much either.. In the past VJ either had a remake release or his movie was on hold for a release in Ap as it was up for a remake.. Recent years it has changed and that paved way for a better release in the states..
