Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein [2001]
On the whole, REHNAA HAI TERRE DIL MEIN is a well executed love story, but it will have to face stiff oppositions in the coming days. The on-going Navratri festival will make a dent in its business (the 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. shows are always affected in several parts of the country!) and of course, the clash of the two biggies ? INDIAN and ASOKA ? in the immediate week will suffocate it further. Word of mouth can boost the prospects to an extent.

Tum Bin [2001]
On the whole, TUM BIN has gloss, a hit musical score, competent performances, mature direction and a tremendous publicity campaign as its assets. But the screenplay in the second half and the loose editing dilute the impact to an extent. Yet, with some trimming, the film should find patronage from those who enjoy emotional films. However, the big oppositions (AKS and the two hits ? GADAR and LAGAAN) will restrict its prospects to an extent. Business in Mumbai should be the best.

Nayak [2001]
On the whole, NAYAK does not meet the gargantuan expectations generated from a film of this magnitude. Its weak second half and a heavy price will see most of its distributors in the red. Disappointing.

Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat [2001]
On the whole, PYAAR ISHQ AUR MOHABBAT is too weak a film to leave any impression whatsoever. Disappointing.

Kasoor [2001]
On the whole, KASOOR is a polished film that will appeal mainly to the gentry. Its business in metros should be the best. Also, the shortage of new releases in the coming weeks should prove advantageous to an extent.

Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai [2001]
On the whole, MUJHE KUCCH KEHNA HAI has opened to a great response, thanks to the curiosity value and the way it has been promoted by its producer (Vashu Bhagnani). The hit musical score and able performances are two pillars the film stands on, but a not-too-strong second half dilutes the overall impact. At best, it is an average fare and long run is ruled out.

Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya [2001]
On the whole, PYAAR TUNE KYA KIYA is a well-made film, which is targeted at the metros. The 'Kambakht Ishq' song and Urmila's bravura performance are two aces of this flick. The hype surrounding the film and the hit musical score will help the film take a great start and businesswise, this love story will have a pleasant ending at the box-office. If you are craving for something different, this film is for you. Go for it!

Lajja [2001]
On the whole, LAJJA is a purposeful film within commercial parameters and the best part is that the Indian masses will be able to identify with the goings-on. An enviable star cast, a talented director and an excellent second half are amongst its strong points. The business in U.P. and Bihar (Rekha, Ajay Devgan's characterisations and dialect) should prove to be the best. Tax-exemption will only enhance its business prospects.

Yeh Raaste Hain Pyar Ke [2001]
On the whole, YEH RAASTE HAIN PYAR KE is a pleasant surprise for those who aren't expecting much from this enterprise. The film has an engrossing second half and Madhuri Dixit's winning performance as its fine points and the fact that it has been sold at a reasonable price, will take the film to safety. No new release in the coming week may also help.

Kyo Kii.. Main Jhuth Nahin Bolta [2001]
On the whole, KYO KII? MAIN JHUTH NAHIN BOLTA is a wholesome family entertainer that is rich in hilarious moments. Govinda's extra-ordinary performance, David Dhawan's expert direction and the witty dialogues make the viewing enjoyable. Though the film has opened to an average response, it may pick up with mouth publicity.

Jodi No.1 [2001]
On the whole, JODI NO. 1 has two strong points ? the impressive names in its cast and crew and some rib-tickling moments. But it falters in that one significant department ? script ? that is so vital to magnetise the audience. The bumper publicity has helped the film take an encouraging start all over, but after the initial euphoria diminishes, it will settle to the average category.

Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega [2001]
On the whole, LOVE KE LIYE KUCH BHI KAREGA is a mediocre film that will appeal more to those who enjoy sophisticated humour. At the box-office, the film should fare better at metros. Business in Mumbai, South India and Overseas should be the best.

Style [2001]
On the whole, STYLE is just about an average fare. However, it has some chances in Mumbai thanks to its city flavour.

Moksha [2001]
On the whole, MOKSHA is a dry and dull film that won't find flavour with the audience. Besides, the pira-ted VCDs have been in circulation much before the film's theatrical release, which will hamper its box-office prospects greatly.

Tera Mera Saath Rahen [2001]
On the whole, TERA MERA SAATH RAHEN is weak in all respects and will face a bumpy ride at the box-office. Its dull opening will also prove a deterrent.

Kuch Khatti Kuch Meethi [2001]
On the whole, KUCH KHATTI KUCH MEETHI is a welcome change from the usual bang, bang, shoot'em up flicks produced in the recent times. The film has its share of flaws, but the fact cannot be ruled out that it is a feel-good film. The film has a genuine buoyancy that leaves a viewer happy.

Yeh Teraa Ghar Yeh Meraa Ghar [2001]
On the whole, YEH TERAA GHAR YEH MERAA GHAR has something for the classes, but not much for the masses. Its business in Mumbai will be the best, but at other places, it will have a rough ride.

Ittefaq [2001]
On the whole, ITTEFAQ is too ordinary a fare and has some chances at small stations only.

Mujhe Meri Biwi Se Bachao [2001]
On the whole, MUJHE MERI BIWI SE BACHAAO is too weak a film to sustain at the box-office. Its dull opening and lack of publicity will add to the woes of its distributors.

Zubeidaa [2001]
On the whole, ZUBEIDAA is a must-see for lovers of sensible cinema and those who appreciate great performances. At the box-office, the film should do very well at select theatres of 'A' class centres, though it will not set the box-office on fire at the small centres.

Yeh Zindagi Ka Safar [2001]
On the whole, YEH ZINDAGI KA SAFAR is a weak fare with nothing to salvage it. Below average.

Pyaar Zindagi Hai [2001]
On the whole, PYAAR ZINDAGI HAI is an ordinary fare. The film has been tax-exempted in Uttar Pradesh and its business should be better there.

Paagalpan [2001]
On the whole, PAAGALPAN is targeted at the youth, who will like the second half for the performances and intensity in the goings-on. The film has opened to a decent response and at the box-office window, this moderately-priced fare should keep its investors safe.

Grahan [2001]
On the whole, GRAHAN is a weak film in all respects. Lack of proper publicity, not-too-hot star cast and dull initial response will prove unfavourable for the film.

To be contd...!
