Hera Pheri 3 goes on floors today [Himesh Mankad]

Question

Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty & Paresh Rawal start shooting for Hera Pheri 3 at Empire Studios in Mumbai today.

Interestingly, the first Hera Pheri also went on floors at Empire Studios in Mumbai back in 1999 and now, 24 years later, it’s like life coming full circle.

 Apart from the original Hera Pheri trio, Hera Pheri 3 will have several acclaimed actors in the comic space and more details on the entire extended ensemble of India’s biggest comic franchise will be unveiled in the coming few days.

The director name is still not known to us yet, but we will be breaking a news on this too in a couple of days.

Akshay in a well written comedy role has always been a treat to watch. Hoping for HP3 to be a well made entertainer and not something cooked up just to ride on the reputation of its predecessors.

Kartik out Akki in. That means something. It's not easy to reach the level of the top class actors and Bollywood was praising Kartik a lot after BB2 and they again had to come back to Akki.

With Kartik, there wouldn't have been much scope for callback jokes to the predecessors, but now that they have brought in Akshay, those jokes will land more effectively I feel.

Yes, lots of Herapheri memes will resurface. Auto-branding and marketing will happen with Akki and we all know that Akki is very good in comedy. Hopefully they make someone good and not forced like HF 4.
