PAD MAN HAS A LOW OPENING WEEKEND
FEBRUARY 12, 2018 12:25 PM
Pad Man had a decent growth of 15% on Sunday for a day three gross of ₹17.75 crore and weekend of ₹44 crore. Opening numbers are 13th highest for Akshay Kumar which is considerably low, however in term of tickets sold it is lowest since Joker in 2013 and par Special 26.
Following is film's box office collection till date.
Friday : ₹11.25 crore
Saturday : ₹15.25 crore
Sunday : ₹17.5 crore
Total : ₹44 crore
The trend of film was okay to good but collection remained low throughout the weekend. High end plexes had good growth rates but as we go down growth rate was limited. Film was fair in Mumbai and TNK for an Akshay starrer but North India, comparatively stronger region for actor remained low. East Punjab grossed ₹3.66 crore as compared to ₹6.4 crore of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha having similar target audience.
The film earned ₹17 crore share in India during weekend and another ₹5 crore Internationally. Film needs to earn ₹55 crore globally for being a safe project for the investors Sony, which seems a big ask at moment. Though a lot will depend on how film perform over the coming days.
