In July, the first schedule of Ali Abbas Zafar’s period drama, Bharat, kicked off in Mumbai’s Filmistan Studio with an elaborate circus sequence set in the late ’60s. It had leading man Salman Khan performing some daredevil motor cycle stunts and Disha Patani impressing as a trapeze artiste.

The film’s team recently returned to the city for the fourth schedule. On Monday,Mirror photographer Raju Shelar got a ringside view of the set in Filmcity which also featured a ‘well of death’. Security guards have been posted at the entry points to stave off curious onlookers.

A few days ago, Mirror (October 26) had reported that MHADA had revoked permission of Rambo Circus for its last act at Bandra’s Reclamation Ground which has been synonymous with the iconic spectacle for the last two decades. The permission was refused after residents, led by local BJP legislator Ashish Shelar, complained that the circus would hamper development of a sports facility coming up on the ground. So while it is curtains for a real circus, Bollywood has pitched it’s own Big Top elsewhere in the city.

The shoot started on October 28 and will continue for a few days before the team moves to Delhi and Punjab for long outdoor schedules during which the Partition sequences will be shot. Salman will be joined there by Katrina Kaif and Jackie Shroff who plays his father.
